Which qualification travels where
A reference on the recognition and portability of skills in Africa: which qualification is recognised where, which body decides, and what to do when the answer is that nothing covers you.
Where CPD is required
No single source records which African countries place a continuing professional development duty on their professionals, for whom, and where there is none. This table is that record. It is built country by country from primary sources, and it states what has not been checked as plainly as what has.
5 of 5 markets checked so far, against the statutory health regulator in each. Other professions in those markets have not been checked yet, and the pages say which.
| Country | CPD required | Qualifications framework | Route for a foreign qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| South Africa | Health professions checked | National Qualifications Framework (NQF) | SAQA Certificate of Evaluation |
| Kenya | Medical and dental checked | Kenya National Qualifications Framework (KNQF) | CUE recognition and equation |
| Nigeria | Doctors and dentists checked | Nigerian Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) | Federal Ministry of Education evaluation |
| Ghana | Medical and dental checked | National TVET Qualifications Framework (NTVETQF) | GTEC credential evaluation |
| Rwanda | Doctors, figure is dated | Rwanda TVET Qualification Framework (RTQF) | HEC equivalence certificate |

By country
Which body covers what, where its remit stops, and how a qualification from outside the country is treated. Each page links to the primary source behind every claim on it.
How this site is different
There is no shortage of pages about recognition in Africa. Almost none of them say where their facts came from or when anyone last looked. Regulatory detail changes, and a confident page that is two years out of date is worse than no page.
So the rule here is that every factual claim carries its source and the date it was checked, and an unchecked claim is labelled as one rather than quietly stated. That is a slower way to build a site. It is the only version of it worth having.
