Privacy and cookies
This site counts how many people read which pages, and only if you agree to it. There is nothing else. No account to create, no form to fill in, and nothing sold or handed to anyone for advertising.
Who is responsible
cpd.africa is published by Continued Professional Development Ltd, which is the data controller for anything described on this page. You can reach us at info@cpd.africa. Who owns this site and why that is worth knowing is set out on the about page.
What is measured
If you accept cookies, this site uses Google Analytics to record which pages are read, how they were arrived at, roughly where in the world the reader is, and what kind of device was used. That is it. The purpose is to know which parts of a reference site are worth maintaining and which are not being read, which is a question we cannot answer any other way.
Google Analytics does not retain your IP address. It is used to work out an approximate location and is then discarded rather than stored against the visit. Google acts as our processor for this, and the data sits in Google’s infrastructure rather than ours. We hold no separate copy.
What is not measured
No advertising or personalisation signals are ever enabled, whatever you choose on the banner. Nothing here builds a profile of you, follows you to another site, or is shared with an advertising network. There is no newsletter sign-up, no contact form and no login, so the site holds no name, address or email for you unless you write to us yourself.
Cookies, and the choice you made
Until you press Accept, no analytics cookies are set. That is enforced before anything loads, rather than being a promise about what happens afterwards. Pressing Decline leaves it that way.
Your answer itself is kept in your own browser’s local storage, so that you are not asked again on every page. It never leaves your device and it is not readable by us. Clearing your browser data removes it and the banner will ask again.
You can change your mind at any time. The Cookie settings link at the foot of every page brings the banner back, and choosing Decline there withdraws consent from that point onwards.
How long it is kept
Analytics data is deleted automatically by Google after the retention period set on the property, and is not archived anywhere else afterwards. If you want to know the period currently in force, ask us at info@cpd.africa and we will tell you.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to it being processed, or withdraw consent. In practice, withdrawing consent through the Cookie settings link is the fastest route, since consent is the only basis on which anything here is collected. Write to info@cpd.africa for anything else.
If you think we have handled this badly, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you told us first, but it is your right either way.
Changes
If what this site measures changes, this page changes with it before the measurement starts, not after.
