About
What this is, and who publishes it
A reference on which qualification travels where, and what to do when it does not. Not a publication, not a pitch, and not a course marketplace.
What the site is for
Somebody trained, and now needs the training to count somewhere. Sometimes that is across a border, sometimes in front of an employer, sometimes in a sector where no body has a remit at all. The information needed to answer that exists, but it is scattered across regulators, ministries and professional bodies, and none of them has a reason to describe where their own remit stops.
That is the gap this site fills. Where recognition reaches, who decides, and what the options are when the answer is that nothing covers you.
Who publishes it
cpd.africa is published by Continued Professional Development Ltd.
It is an ed-tech and professional recognition company, and this site documents where national recognition systems reach and where they do not. Those two things sit in obvious tension, so we would rather state it plainly than have you find it out.
What it means in practice is a rule we hold ourselves to. This site is willing to conclude that an official route is the right answer and that nothing needs buying, and it names commercial options only where several exist and only alongside the official route. Where a page reaches that conclusion, it says so.
The check you can apply is the same one we apply. Every factual claim here carries the source it came from and the date somebody read it. If a claim has no source, we say that too, rather than leaving the space blank.
What this site will not do
It does not rate institutions. Describing a process factually, including how many steps it has and how long it takes, is useful. Calling a body slow or broken is a position, and taking positions costs the neutrality the whole site depends on.
It does not cover the politics of skills funding, which in some countries is entangled with questions this site has no business taking a side on.
It is not a jobs board, a course marketplace or a source of general career advice.
How we check sets out the sourcing standard in full.
